I don’t believe anything I write or say. I regard belief as a form of brain damage, the death of intelligence, the fracture of creativity, the atrophy of imagination.I have opinions but no Belief System (B.S.)
o Robert Anton Wilson
“There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don’t know we don’t know.”
o Donald Rumsfeld, American War Criminal explaining the machinations of US Intelligence
“I now have absolute proof that smoking even one marihuana cigarette is equal in brain damage to being on Bikini Island during an H-bomb test.”
o Ronald Reagan, entertained [lulled] Americans for 8 years with his wonderful impersonations of a US President

o Show features mostly French stuff including Lena, perhaps one of the finest intelligent-adventurous post-dub CDs to come out in the past few years, featuring the ever mood-architecture voice of Black Sifichi. But it also features some of the most intrepid new dub anywhere. Brain Damage refuses pigeon-holing and refuses to stick to anything resembling roots. They are from Lyon and they remain ever on the look out for new audio experiences to enhance with their dub magic. Short Cuts is an audio log of their journeys into Eastern Europe. Ad Hoc collaboration that works because it creates the brooding and tentative and yet exhilarating fusion-collaboration that they seem to thrive on. I had the honor to experience this first-hand when I participated in the excellent CD Word Dub Manifesto <spokendub.free.fr>, which also included Mark Stewart, Ted Milton, Hakim Bey, all people who I have more than admired. There is tough stuff here, the noise given purpose and the dub rattles bones you didn’t know you had. Meanwhile, Mathias Delplanque [aka Lena[ superbly balances sound that explores the outer burbs or intelligible sound with his soundscapes and sound installations, while with Lena he engages in a dynamic blend of electro-dub and noisy jazz fit for the defining of a banlieu chaud.
o One American earns more than entire GNP of Rwanda [Volkskrant, 17 April]: Upon the sweaty and food-abused backs of failing and suffering Americans, victimized by their too-good-to-be-true dreams of homes bought on over-extended credit in cahoots with money-lenders and mortgage extenders, we have hodgefundhog John Paulson who earned an incredible $3.7 billion salary in 2007, which was higher than Rwanda’s GNP. He bet on the housing crisis and thus with every failure he earned more moneyŠ as Woody Guthrie said “some rob you with a 6-gun, others with a fountain pen.”
o Amsterdam’s worst annoyance for those who live and work there is yet again [10 yrs running – or more] dog shit on the streets. It is pretty amazing how incapable Amsterdam is regarding this relatively simple issue. It has become a question of are the parks for kids or dogs, are green spaces for lying in the sun or dog toilets. But despite some non-strict efforts dog owners continue to feel it is their right [as dog tax payers] to litter just about anywhere. That said, it is amazing that this is the WORST complaint. In other words, if this is the worst, then it’s a pretty good place to live. And it is. Garbage on the streets came second, the destruction of public ‘furniture’ [benches, bus shelters] and grafitti came in 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
