A stiff autumn breeze blows all your thoughts up in neat little row [Een goede herfstwind waait gedachten op een rij]

Autumn is a very deep period of time for me as the skies close in, close down, wrap around you as if encouraging you to turn inward as you wander around & get mesmerized by the scents of decaying leaves, the blinding colors of the leaves, reminding you that mortality is spared no thing. I have done my share of wandering Ann Arbor, NYC, Paris, Amsterdam, elsewhere & there is a noticeable difference in people as if they are already looking for the hearths they no longer have. There is a delirious, delicious, enveloping melancholy that almost seems to explain the path of your life. It is like the inverse of spring; spring is gutless, shallow, facile, overrated, while summer inovlves seeking indulgence & respite, winter is the time when you take what you’ve learn on your autumn sojourns & try to make some vague elegant sense of things.

“A scraggly tree along the way stubbornly holds on to a few late autumn leaves: how the mind conspires to fuse a link between the image of a leaf holding onto a twig and me at the end of some kind of rope is not exactly clear. With a new job, a new sense of hope. They say you create your own reality, make your own fortune, set your own salary when you graduate college.”
• Beer Mystic
“Autumn, what a beautiful time with all those colored things falling at your feet as if you yourself were blowing past.” [Herfst, wat een prachtige tijd met al die gekleurde dingen die voor de voeten vallen of je zelfs aan komen waaien.]
